QA Engineer

WEDO SA is a growing startup based in Fribourg. Our mission is to simplify teamwork in companies. We build WEDO, a collaborative platform to prepare meetings, write minutes live, and track tasks across teams.

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to take full ownership of product quality. This role is hands-on, end-to-end, and central to how we ship. You will be responsible for manual testing, test automation, and evolving our quality strategy — including the pragmatic use of AI to improve coverage and efficiency.

This is not a support role. You are the quality owner.

About the Role

You will own the entire QA process:

• From bug report triage to regression prevention
• From test case design to automated execution
• From today’s test suite to tomorrow’s quality strategy

We already have:

• Documented test cases
• A Playwright-based automated smoke test suite

Your job is to strengthen, extend, and professionalize this foundation.

About You

• You care deeply about product quality and user impact
• You are comfortable switching between manual exploratory testing and test automation
• You think in systems, not just test cases
• You value pragmatism over dogma: good coverage > perfect coverage
• You are autonomous, structured, and opinionated (with arguments)

You have:

• Strong experience in manual testing of web applications
• Solid experience with test automation, ideally with Playwright or similar tools
• A good understanding of modern web stacks (frontend, backend, APIs)
• Experience designing and maintaining test suites over time
• Comfort working closely with developers and challenging assumptions

Big plus:

• Experience using AI tools to generate, improve, or maintain tests
• Experience defining QA strategy in a small or fast-moving team
• Experience with CI pipelines and test execution in CI/CD

Things You Will Do

WEDO is a fast-growing, continuously evolving company. You'll likely get experience working on many different tasks and projects. That said, here are some things you'll probably do:

• Own and evolve the end-to-end QA process
• Triage, reproduce, and validate bug reports
• Maintain and expand the Playwright test suite
• Decide what to automate and what not to
• Reduce flaky tests and improve signal-to-noise
• Leverage AI tools to increase coverage and reduce maintenance cost
• Work closely with engineers to prevent regressions, not just detect them
• Continuously raise the quality bar of the product
